Could the API be extended to allow using the texkey's inspire generates as an external identifier (well, I guess not really external but anyway...), so one could do something like https://inspirehep.net/api/texkey/Maldacena:1997re
to get a single record? As far as I can tell, everything in the inspire database has a unique texkey so they should work equally well as arxiv ids or DOIs.
This was inspired when updating https://github.com/DavidMStraub/inspiretools to use the new API - it retrives bibtex entries from texkeys, and it would be (marginally) nicer to be able to do the above rather than https://inspirehep.net/api/literature?q=texkey:Maldacena:1997re
