Recently, every time I try to run the file I do not get a PDF, I just get a blank screen. This has happened after a recent update.

Check out the proposed solution by @toadfarmer in issue #238 - worked for me and many others. :)

I recommend you to turn "fit to width on open" (in settings of pdf-view) off.
