You want to type "114" to select channel 114? (Servers support up to 150 channels). That seems cumbersome and error prone. How do you select channel 1, channel 14, etc... What if you want to adjust pan position? Why restrict to fader level? I'd suggest a keyboard shortcut to select the mixer, then Tab to move between channels until Enter is pressed, and then Tab to move between the channel controls, allowing cursor control of pan and fader independently, plus space bar to toggle the checkboxes. Once a channel is set, Escape can move back a level. That scheme gives full navigability. I'd accept some fast way to move rapidly from one channel to another - e.g. channel 7 to channel 41 - would be useful... Suggestions welcome. Maybe "hold down Alt and type, release Alt when you've entered all the digits"? |

I'm puzzled ? For my part, most of the servers I've played on average a maximum of 20 users, which is seldom aurally satisfying. Possibly choirs do host more, but I doubt they allow 150 simultaneously, unless really exceptionnal network and computing power are at work; anyway I doubt one can view 150 simultaneously in a client. To reiterate , my suggestion and priority is about minimizing my hands away from the instrument (guitar) while playing. My need is too adjust, ideally with one hand and rapidly, a channel's overly loud volume, peak or noise, or to mute the occasionnal (but rare) careless one(s). Anything else can be set while I'm not playing (ex. panning) or at session setup, hence have time to deal with the mouse/touchpad and window precision. |

@henkdegroot Having to wait for TV-like keys is one of thing I would avoid, as I'm playing and want my hands on the instrument. |

@mslinn I would use the standard keyboard numeric keys , not a keypad as many (ex: laptop) do not have keypads. |

I have experience with Windows, a little with Linux but none with Mac or tablets and the like. So, granted the OS has a way to switch focus to a desired application (ex.: Jamulus client), the rest of the key shortcut feature would apply to the client's 'console' window. I suppose the client could be called with a switch (ex.: -s or -k) to enable channel number displaying and keyboard shortcut features. When in focus and 'listening' for interaction, the 'console' window would interpret any number key as part of a channel number, any up/down keys as a notch up/down the volume level; possibly the letter 'm' or 'M' as mute. Eventually, a nice keyboard shortcut sub-system could be developed in the future, even with default and personalized shortcuts as in most DAW. If there's any development, I hope it would prioritize the musician's (incl. singers) focus on the music, less on the keyboard/mouse/etc.. Thanks. |

As an eventual ( if / when ? ) implementation of my suggestion ... one should consider that the identification of channels is already available when the But beware that this option is currently causing a bug in the jamulus.ini file. |

Bonjour,
I just read thread #2210 and keyboard shortcuts makes great sense. For my part, I would really welcome the option not to wrestle with the mouse and precision of graphic windows to mute or adjust the volume of a channel. This would reduce the amount of time my hands are off my instrument.
I suggest using the keyboard numeric keys to select the channel and the using the up/down keys to lower or raise the volume. For ease of use, that would entail showing an identifying number near a channel (possibly the same as used in the file name of recorded tracks or logs entries on the server).
Thanks for considering this.
