By running the app on my smartphone, it seems that the MQTT client receives messages only when the activity is running. It would be useful to extend the application functioning, enabling a background service to receive messages even when the application is closed. Do you have any idea to solve this problem?

Hi Laura, TBH, this will require some research. I don't have an answer right now.
