Black box around subtitles #577
Comments
Tangentially related but, do you also notice the following issues appearing since your issue first started?

Not sure what this refers to. I don't see any synopsis on the Chromecast.
I still see a seekbar, title, and image. Though presumably that's up to the Android app and not the Chromecast app.
The Chromecast app doesn't have a UI as far as I know, it's just remote controlled.
Not in any new way, I think. |
Hmm, do you use a smart TV or something? I have an old dumb TV from 2011, so I just plug the Chromecast into the HDMI port and cast to it, causing the TV to display a Jellyfin UI. |
It is a smart TV from 2011, but I am using a Chromecast plugged into HDMI. The only thing I see when I first launch Jellyfin on it is the Jellyfin logo and "Ready to cast" in the corner. Then I guess there is the progress bar and title overlay shown briefly when you start playing something, but that's not something you can interact with, and I see no synopsis. |
Describe the bug
Recently, subtitles on Chromecast have a opaque black box around them. This started happening around the time I updated to Jellyfin 10.9, there was no such box around the subtitles before that (or at least not a completely opaque one, I can't quite remember). There is no box around the subtitles when playing on web or Android, only when I use the same Android client to start casting.
