Crash when using Configuration Tool

Describe the bug

Visual Studio builds (SDL1/SDL2) x32 - crashes when using Configuration Tool.
Visual Studio builds (SDL1/SDL2) x64 - Configuration Tool works fine.
MINGW bulds - Configuration Tool works fine.

Steps to reproduce the behaviour

1. Go to "Main" -> "Configuration Tool" or press F11+C

Expected behavior

No response

What version(s) of DOSBox-X have this bug?

v.2024.10.01 builds for WinXP

Visual Studio builds XP x86 SDL1 working fine here on Windows 10 x64.
It's going to be difficult to find out what the problem will be on deprecated OSs.
(Windows 10 will also be deprecated soon.)

I confirm - Configuration tool from 2024.10.01 VS32 SDL2 on Win8.1 x64 - crashes for me as well:

On Win7 x64 - crashes as well.
On Vista x64 - it worked well on first try. Next time (after shutdown/reboot) it crashed. Then just after that (without shutdown/reboot) - it worked OK and continued to work OK after 2-3 times closing/opening DOSbox-X...
On Win10 x64 - Configuration tool worked well on first try. Although the whole DOSbox-X didn't start with my old .conf file - it started only after I put it in an empty folder - then Configuration tool worked OK. MinGW64 SDL2 starts with my old .conf file OK.

Same here: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 X64 - ver. 2024.10.01 (VS SDL1 32 bit build)
Almost instant crash, when I open the Configuration tool from the menu, or press F11+C.

Could it be a problem with uninitialized memory?

I will investigate here on Linux using Valgrind.

When it comes to obsolete versions of Windows, there's always VirtualBox, or old PCs from the local thrift store, to run them.
