Location of comprehensive documentation

Disclaimer: I might be ignorant of best practices of where documentation is kept

The Readme is sparse and only has minimal examples
The apex/docs just has lists of method names, with no narrative explanation of them
The test methods in the test classes don't have an invocation of every method that I could use as an example

Something I can't figure out and would benefit from having documentation on

• how to add relational lookup fields from parent objects? (i.e. SELECT Account.Name FROM Contact)
