A canonical URL is always created for a page (even if the canonical route is used). This ensures clean self-referential URLs. Pages handles this out-of-the-box for you.

I have a requirement to set the canonical URL of a certain page to the URL of a specific page so that Google knows which page is the standard page.
Can I override the canonical URL to a specific link?
