This project seems relatively unmaintained: last patched in 2019. There is also talk about it being used in Debian on the tracker. There is a fork of this project called system-deps which currently has 145 commits ahead of metadeps. It also has more Github stars, and more recent filed issues in its tracker -- leading me to believe it has already established itself as the de facto method of doing this.
Moving forward should metadeps be used? If so, since the changes required to migrate are so minimal: can this project become a shim for that project and be archived to eliminate further confusion? It seems the changes required are minimal.
If not, perhaps updating the readme to differentiate the two projects in aim or status would be beneficial? And if there is drama that caused the fork, maybe it could be enumerated so we're not all looking for the technical differences?
