Today we released new library updates for Salt light and dark components, and Salt Figma component guides.
Optimized Figma components
The new light and dark components have been rebuilt from scratch to follow a new creation standard, optimized for the DXD and CIB teams, which improves performance, parity with code, and ease of extension and contribution. The new standard addresses consumer feedback regarding the number of layers, complexity, and memory consumption of Figma components.
New Data Grid Figma component
The Figma Data Grid has been restructured and simplified following significant investigation, resulting in a 20.1% reduction in memory usage. This investigation has directly informed our approach to building simplified and more performant Figma components for Salt.
Changes to the data grid include:
New Figma component guides
The new components are fully supported by an updated ‘Figma component guides’ library. The new guides provide step-by-step instructions describing how to configure the Figma components, with extensive guidance for using the new Data Grid in Figma.
What do you need to do?
If you're using the Salt libraries already, Figma will notify you of the update. As net new components they are not backward compatible with the previous alpha components. We recommend you update immediately, but be aware some component properties may need to be reapplied in your project.
