As of September 26, 2023, Big Sur is no longer supported (getting updates) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacOS_Big_Sur).

We should investigate dropping support for 11 and bumping up to macOS 12 (or newer if backwards compatible w/ 12) toolchains.
