Getting Started
You have installed Magic Areas and are ready to start fiddling! Welcome to our Getting Started guide!
Since before Magic Areas you might have not given Home Assistant's areas enough attention, now it's the time to figure out all the areas you have in your home and start creating them in Home Assistant. After you're done with that, go to your Integration
pages and add another Magic Area
entry for the corresponding area.
See configuration for a full list of configuration options or check each of the features documentation for feature-specific configuration.
Currently Magic Areas requires that entities are able to be added to an Area in Home Assistant. If your entity doesn't have a unique_id
, Home Assistant wont allow you to add to an area. If that happens to you, you can use the Include Entities
configuration parameter to force Magic Areas to assign these entities to your area.
In case you don't want an entity to be used for presence sensing or by any of the features, you might exclude these entities from Magic Areas by using the Exclude Entities
configuration parameter.
NOTE: This will include/exclude the entities from Magic Areas as a whole. There's no way to include/exclude for a specific feature.
Magic Areas has a bunch of different features. After going through the default area options, users are presented with a feature selector and the configuration options for those features are presented in the next configuration steps.
Check out our troubleshooting guide and if that doesn't works, open us a ticket!
