"Bringing forward" certain variables to unmasked these variables

First of all, thank you for creating such a beautiful visualisation tool!

Say I have some genes I want to highlight, would it be possible to "bring forward" these variables so they can be clearly seen among the backgrounds? I have played around with customising the variables with different colours, etc, but they are still a bit "masked" among the background.
