Contacts are being duplicated if created on device via cardDav

Hi,
I believe this issue is also on the OwnCloud forums and here on GitHub in the OwnCloud's "contacts" page.
I have a Blackberry 10 device (Q10 running OS 10.3.2) and I'm using Contacts+ to sync phonebook via CardDAV, everything works fine except one thing:

If I create a new contact on my phone, after a few hours it gets duplicated numerous times, at each sync request I believe.I end up with hundreds duplicated contacts.
If I create the contact in Owncloud inside the browser, it syncs ok on the phone and it doesn't get duplicated untill the end of time.
This issue was discussed on the below topic as well and I am sure the fix is something stupid line two lines of code.
I really like Contacts+ and we use it at work too, with multiple phonebooks (personal and business) but If I have to create a contact on my phone I have to clean the phonebook the next day because I get thousands of contacts.
