Is this a problem with LND or with the API call? I'll sometimes change the fees or max htlc via the UI in Thunderhub but these errors appear in the logs making me wonder if the change actually worked or not.

Or are these incoming changes from other nodes?

533187:2423:1 refers to this very old channel. I think it's a zombie channel update sent from your peers which can be ignored.
