My name is Georg, I am a 44-year-old developer from Germany with over 20 years of experience, especially in the Linux area. Your background:
Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Electrical Engineering (Communications Engineering)
Experience in process automation
User of Linux Mint Debian Edition 6
Knowledge of various programming languages, especially Python and C
Strong grasp of technical processes and optimisation
You would like to work more than 10 hours per week and are looking for a small entry-level task, preferably in Python or C(menson).
Which task is good for beginners?

Probably the best place to start is just to try fixing some bugs. That way you'll learn about how all the parts of cinnamon/Mint fit together. https://linuxmint-developer-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/
