Boto has a set of progressions it makes when it comes to accessing credentials that are detailed at http://boto3.readthedocs.io/en/latest/guide/configuration.html. Currently the docs are focused on .boto file, which is the last in the progression, which can lead to security/auth failures. It would be good to update the docs as well as support for ~/.aws/credentials and AWS profiles.
