We'd love to know what you guys are doing with your 'shifters, so here is the place to answer the question:

What are you doing with your MagicShifter3000?

@seclorum seclorum changed the title Most Import Issue: what are you using your MagicShifter3000 for? Most Import Issue: The User. Mar 17, 2016

Thank you for making this great device - you put in some very nice features and the new Wifi / Web interface is very handy !

I'm not sure if this is the right place fo feature requests .... but I'll give a try ;-)

*) what about a clock - display (wasn't that already available in a prior frimware version ?)
*) scrolling text would be cool - to display longer text sequences
*) what about animation (several images could be displayed in a loop)
*) is there a way to trigger POV display via an external event (like a reed switch / magnet or IR led) ?
( so we could mount 2 MS3000 on a spinning rod and display scolling text ! )
*) what about a "pendulum" mode which detects when the MS3000 is mounted on a pendulum -
I'm thinking about something like that: https://hackaday.com/2015/10/17/led-pendulum-pulses-out-clock-face/

Great suggestions - I think all of them are cool ideas. We could think about using ntp for the Clock, hehe.

Scrolling/Longer-text: roger that.
Animation: roger that.
Triggered POV: not sure if I understand, but it should be possible to 'sync' two 'shifters around the same axis already, but I have to test that. :)
Pendulum: The onboard Magnetometer should make this really easy.

Incidentally, if you want to copy a Mode file and add a new mode to the sources, its 'pretty easy' to do that and try some of your ideas out .. ;) I will probably do some docs on that soon, for the Wiki ..

@triggered POV: i once made a POV gadget mounted on a spinning rod. i used a photo sensor to detect a certain position (0 angle) for triggering the LED sequence start - and to measure time for one revolution. thus it was easy to stabilize display + scrolling also during slightly changing spinning speed (which was about 250-300 rpm). i mounted a second POV device on the other end of the rod so that the mass was equally distributed and the light intensity doubled.
