The JEI configure button doesn't work and I cannot find the config file in .minecraft/config/jei either.

This is not a bug, the Configurize mod is required to access the JEI options in game which we do not have (you can install it yourself). You can find the configs in /(minecraft directory)/config/jei-client.toml. The changes you make will update live in game so no need to close and reopen minecraft.

there is no jei-client.toml in jei folder. (craft to exile dissonance 3.1.5)

have tried installing Configured, didnt work either.

It seems like jei won't create such a toml file, i couldn't figure out why.

It's not in the jei folder, its just in the configs folder. The directory is for the new modpack and not dissonance but it should still be the same.

i found an issue of jei : mezz/JustEnoughItems#1526

and a workaround for 1.15 (havent test it yet)
https://github.com/Theta-Dev/JustEnoughItems/releases/tag/v7.1.3_withConfigGUI

and yes, there is no jei config anywhere 🤕
