I have had a fully functional Tesseract-OCR installed at the standard location, with tessdata for a lot of languages, before installing gImageReader. Surprisingly, gImageReader doesn’t seem to be aware of tessdata already installed in
C:\Program Files\Tesseract-OCR\tessdata
In Preferences the location for tessdata is hardcoded (?!!), the only choice given between
C:/Program Files/gImageReader/share/tessdata/
and
C:/Users/vianthemis/AppData/Local/tessdata/
It is a lot more logical (and practical as well) to allow the user to provide the list of additional directories where gImageReader should be looking for tessdata and, at the very least, make gImageReader to check for the existence and contents of C:\Program Files\Tesseract-OCR\tessdata .
