Arising out of the Council meeting today (2020-01-30):

  • SB: Compile a list of the possible locations for the main text in the Guidelines chapters, along with pros and cons for each; make this a table poll on the original TEI ticket and have Council vote on whether the location is the best one, or it should include a mention with a pointer. Suggested locations include between 16.12 and 16.13, 17, 11.6... (core (around about notes), linking/seg/align, primary sources, writing modes, new chapter?)
  • MH: Finish the section with a new example which is based on something like Figure 1: Kamo no Mabuchi, Man’yoshū Taikō, from Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, Libri japon. 262/264 from the original submission, where the hand is different for the rts.
  • SB: Fix duplicate ids across examples.
  • SB: Validate all egXMLs (of course).
  • N/A: Fix Schematron: move it up to the element level rather than the <attDef> level so that it works in RNG. — not necessary, works as is (tested in oXygen 23.0)
  • Move work to a branch of dev and fix any fallout — via PR, right?

Deadline for all this: Feb 6, giving us time to merge it before the freeze.

Poll on possible locations for the main text

section in the GLs full section* reference** comment
Core: before or after notes MDH, SB MH thinks it will be a good fit with exactly this context, and it will be easy to segue into it. SB: after notes; i.e. the new 3.8.2
Linking / Segmentation / Alignment: between 16.11 and 16.13 MDH, SB (This means a new paragraph in 16.12, right? —SB)
Simple Analytic Mechanisms: between 17.2 and 17.4 MDH [SB] ***
as part of Writing Modes MDH When we come to deal with emphasis marks in combination with ruby, this might be the place for that.
Primary Source: between 11.3 and 11.4 MDH [SB]
Primary Source: between 11.4. and 11.5 MDH [SB]

*the full section on ruby glosses should go there
**there should be a reference to ruby section
***SB suggests a reference in a new paragraph in 17.4 before start of 17.4.1
†SB leans towards a mention of ruby as part of both 11.3 and 11.4 in the paragraphs before the 1st subsection of each

@martinascholger @sydb @martindholmes Just noting that I (and probably other council members) do not have edit access to the posting above so we can't vote here. It's probably okay if everyone's comfortable voting over in Slack.

Alternatively, move the poll to one of the TEI repos?
