Can I run MAS again after updating my bios (which deactivates my windows)? #523
-
I've been using a windows 7->free upgrade to windows 10 license for a while now. Recently I updated my MSI motherboard bios (due to intel cpu issues), and upon reboot my windows was no longer activated. After some research I determined that this was a common MSI issue due to the way they handle bios. I tried reentering my windows 7 key, but it gave an error saying the key was assigned to different hardware. Seems like flashing the bios on MSI boards wipes out your HWID or changes it in some way, tricking windows into thinking its a different motherboard. Since i use a local account, selecting "my hardware was modified" option, wasn't working. Anyways, I stumbled upon MAS and used it to reactivate my windows using the HWID method. My question is, if i need to update my bios again in the future (for the mid august intel cpu micro code update), and assuming the MSI issue happens again and my windows becomes deactivated, would using MAS HWID work a second time? Or no since my motherboard's HWID has been stored and assigned on microsoft servers? Keep in mind I'm using a local account. Thanks in advance |
