How to insert basemap in Simunto Via

Hi, Everyone !

I'm sorry if this question is out of matsim topic.

I need to insert a shp map to Via simunto matsim visualizer. The only shapefile I can add is only region boundary. I want to add like building, lake, terrain, or something like that. I have downloaded shp files from openstreetmap but none of them can be visible in via (maybe my fault when download the file or insert the file). Can I add something like ESRI map in Via ?

In some simulation's video example they have good visualization with background map.

Hi, VIA has a Webmap plug-in available, which allows you to add any kind of web map service, with some default options being available. I think you need to buy this plug-in extra.

Alternatively, you may add several shape files depicting land use, buildings, etc. at the same time. One possible source for them is OSM (http://download.geofabrik.de/ has ready-to-download shape files for most regions in the world).
