This Windows program will r/w ext2/3/4 volumes in Win 10- Even WSL2 can't do this with USB drives (today) but Paragon can. Honestly for $30 it's probably worth it until Microsoft gets their shit together and fixes WSL2.

I have no issue reading/writing to/from an EXT4 volume on WSL2 on a USB drive, and I have been for a while, so I'm not sure why you're not. (you know about wsl --mount --bare ?)

And besides that a working driver keeps working.
