Some thoughts I've had

Update to use features in Hugo extended
Proper support for use as a Hugo module (this basically is working now fwiw)
Make a template site (separate repo) that can be used to get started (include "deploy on Netlify" button)
Modernize frameworks etc
make more instructions on wiki
possibly move from @mattstratton to an org for hugo (wait on this until there are mulitple repos for different things)
