International Image Interoperability Framework

https://iiif.io/api/

API and framework for expected request structure and criteria and response structures for describing image collections, images and for requesting images, or parts of images (e.g. cropping) from an online service.

(Like OGC standards but for images)

Image API https://iiif.io/api/image/3.0/ and Presentation API https://iiif.io/api/presentation/3.0/ are most relevant

Being discussed at Big Picture working groups for marine biodiversity imagery infrastructure.
