[Run][New Plugin] Searching through OneNote notebooks (and in general through stuff stored in applications) #3603
Comments
Any news on this one? |
@Xemanth Currently no one is working on this. And I think it could get very difficult, because you can't open Onenote with a specific search request. It could work over a Microsoft Graph API, but this could only work when a Microsoft Account is connected to PowerToys. |
going to close this against #4233 which in theory should do this as they are both in graph. |
@crutkas, I'm working on this, using local interop instead of Graph Search, since Graph doesn't support sharepoint-hosted notebooks. I propose reopening this issue to track that work |

Excellent! Thank you 👋 |
We released 0.60.1 and this is included in it! https://aka.ms/installpowertoys |
Omg, so much thank you! ❤️ |
Let me just say that I absolutely love PowerToys and its clean implementation; pretty much everything about it. Absolutely can't wait for it to start shipping with Windows.
Summary of the new feature/enhancement
A feature like this would enable users to get to the specific point they need to get to in the application or document; for example, if I wish to get to a particular page in a OneNote notebook, then rather than opening OneNote and then searching for that page, it would instead directly open up the notebook for me. A similar thing could apply to a Word or PDF document.
This functionality would obviously make things a whole lot easier for users. A potential pitfall could be that there would be too many results, but that could easily be rounded by asking users to specify what they're looking for.Proposed technical implementation details (optional)
