Describe the solution you'd like:

It would be good if you could install and use Ubuntu Desktop and not just start apps. I would like to work via the Ubuntu Desktop.

I tried to install ubuntu-desktop.

You can do it with xfce:

sudo apt install xwayland
Xwayland :1 &
WAYLAND_DISPLAY= DISPLAY=:1 xfce4-session

I agree with @heamaral.
The primary function of WSL should be to run Linux applications on Windows, like WineHQ.
To use a complete Desktop interface, there are alternative means as @heamaral said. Or even installing a Linux virtual machine.

@ghost it's very sad. but the gnome on windows and the same good integration with Windows applications was incredibly convenient.
