Downloading urls seen within items

I've been trying to figure some things out on my own, but I can't quite pin down how one might have gallery-dl grab links that are within tweets, or patreon pages, for instance, directly to other files. There's using the generic: tag but that will grab everything unless you limit it to a point of uselessness for actually grabbing the links.

Is what I'm looking for even possible?

I think the only way here is to use a post-processor that you specifically set up to grab those text blocks containing the desired links, specifically the metadata postprocessor.
