Improve Performance of Exploring Simulation Instances

Both explore(sim_inst) and plot(sim_inst, :comp, :var) are extremely slow, and these also don't use the same React infrastructure being used by the explore(m) call ... should try to speed these up and maybe move to the React framework as well.
