Late 2015 Instagram announced their Instagram Platform Update where every newly registered app starts in sandbox mode. After my experience it is not possible to use django-connected to authorize in sandbox mode. I tried applying for basic permissions (out of sandbox) with the argument that I needed django-connected for authorization, but it was declined.

I haven't used instagram API since the introduction of sandbox mode. I'll try my best to look into this as soon as possible.
It may take me few weeks (sorry) ..I'm ridiculously busy at the moment.
In the meantime, if you figure out how to resolve this issue.. pull requests are always welcome.
