Mongoid Dynamic Finder

Install this gem to use ActiveRecord type Dynamic Finders for your rails app on MongoDB.

Installation

gem install ‘mongoid_dynamic_finder’ in your gemfile. Don’t forget to run Bundle install

Features

You can now use the dynamic finders used in ActiveRecord.

For Artist model, here are a few examples :

Artist.create(:name => "Your Name")
Artist.find_by_name("Your Name")

This would fetch the row within your collection for Artist named ‘Your Name’. If not present, this would return ‘nil’

Pass in two attributes in your finder.

Artist.find_by_name_and_title('Some Artist' , 'Mr.')

Use the ‘first’ and ‘last’ keywords

Artist.find_first_by_name('Van Gogh')
Artist.find_last_by_name('Picasso')
Artist.find_first_by_name_and_title("Muhammad Ali", "Boxer")
Artist.find_last_by_name_and_title("Rocky Balboa", "Boxer")

Raise exceptions by using Bang (‘!’)

Artist.find_by_name!('Unknown Artist')

This would raise an exception while the rest would give out ‘nil’.

Try the sample app using this gem.
