When I import some Zemax files downloaded from Thorlabs (e.g., an aspheric singlet for fiber coupling), there is an additional element besides the lens of interest. How can I remove that extra element? There are some methods in the element model and part tree that look promising (e.g., remove_element() in the element model and remove_element_from_tree() in the part tree), but my attempts to use them have only resulted in errors. I've found nothing about removing elements in the docs or the discussions. Does anyone know how to do this? Maybe there is a way to do it with the surface model, but I find that model more difficult to think about than the element model. It seems awkward to have to remove two surfaces in order to remove one lens.
