Matthew Alioto — CI/CD Nerd
Matt Alioto is an experienced software engineer and engineering manager, having worked at companies such as IBM, Vistaprint, and Wayfair. At Wayfair, Matt was a key developer on the company's early pricing, shipping estimation, and inventory systems before moving into a Release Engineering role. There, he developed a new build, release, and deployment system that reduced time-to-deployment from days to minutes for all .NET developers, and led the team that migrated the entire codebase to GitHub. More recently, he led the team building internal tools for Wayfair's Brand Creative division.
Matt is currently the VP of Technology for Probity Enterprises and a senior engineer at Smyl Fitness.
This talk covers how to optimize Dockerfiles and overall containerization for both image size and local/production build speed, with a focus on the Python/FastAPI stack. Refined from https://www.meetup.com/gem-city-tech/events/298375676/.
