We need a developer environment Docker container created, with a ROS Foxy environment, utilizing one of the ROS base images. This container needs to have expanded tooling for Foxy, including Gazebo, rviz, and any other tooling found necessary, and will primarily be used as a base for development in our Foxy repositories.

This image can either be based off of the rr-foxy-base image, or one of the larger ROS provided images with the same changes as the base image. You can also base it off of the rr-foxy-base image and add the features that are being used when creating some of the larger ROS provided images (look into their dockerfiles to see what is being added).

  • Create a Dockerfile within the path docker/rr-foxy-dev as described above
  • Ensure the packages described above are added to the container
  • Push a new build of the container to raiderrobotics/container-registry:rr-foxy-dev
  • Update the Engineering Notebook with the completed issue
