Is it a bug?

  • I know this is an issue with the app, and contacting Mullvad support is not relevant.

I have checked if others have reported this already

  • I have checked the issue tracker to see if others have reported similar issues.

Current Behavior

Since the quatum resistance update, it now consistently takes over 20 seconds to connect. Is that normal?

Expected Behavior

It should not take over 20 seconds to connect.

Steps to Reproduce

n/a

Failure Logs

Operating system version

Windows 10

Mullvad VPN app version

2025.2

Hello @issuant 👋

We have received several reports about connections taking a long time to establish since we enabled quantum resistant tunnels by default on Windows in the 2025.1 update. We have since made some optimizations which should help alleviate the issue, and we hope to get a beta out very soon. In the meantime, I suggest turning off quantum resistance if you experience problems. I'll make sure to update this issue when we release the beta 😊

Hi there, we just released a new beta version: https://github.com/mullvad/mullvadvpn-app/releases/tag/2025.3-beta1

Would you mind trying it out to see if the issue has been resolved? 😊

I wish I could but unfortunately, I have only one device which is not an option for testing this.

I see. We usually have a beta period for ~2 weeks before releasing a stable version, and in the meantime we'll try to gather as much feedback as possible. Take care 💛
