UI not working after update to 2025.3 #7625

Is it a bug?

  • I know this is an issue with the app, and contacting Mullvad support is not relevant.

I have checked if others have reported this already

  • I have checked the issue tracker to see if others have reported similar issues.

Current Behavior

I have a windows 11 machine. Installing the latest released 2025.3 creates a situation where there is no UI available. The icon does not show up in the taskbar and using the start menu does nothing. The mullvad-daemon is running and it is connected as it should be.

Expected Behavior

I should have a mullvad icon in the taskbar that and an accessible UI.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install 2025.3
  2. Start mullvad

Yeah, I think I'm experiencing this as well on Windows 11. Updated to latest version & the UI won't appear, regardless of what I've tried. I downgraded to 2025.2, but of course my account number disappeared in the process. 🤦‍♂

I'm in the same boat. The VPN is functional, but no UI now, nothing in the system tray...

Yeah, I have this same problem on Windows too. However, the app UI and tray icon work just fine on my macOS device, so maybe it's an issue only on Windows?

already created an issue: #7621

no need for duplicate. this was a known issue from beta and it's a electron bug and mullvad is aware of it, no need for logs. the question is don't they have a review team (QA) in their software department ? i think they don't have that structural organized systematic software development like a professional company. they work as a team and there is no structure, so things like this can happen.which is concerning. i do not want to sound offensive i just talking about how things should have been

they released it in friday so i think at the start of the working day someone in mullvad gets: hello good morning why we have this much tickets? and issues in github? :)

Exact same issue with me, Mullvad does not show up in the tray or even when I hover over the Wifi/Ethernet icon on windows, I really though I was going crazy.

Hello all

It seems like the fix in Electron/chromium included in the stable release only partially solved the issue.

We are trying to get a fix out shortly. We think we have a working fix, but we haven't been able to reproduce the issue ourselves. Please try out the build below and see if it works!
