When the user selects a feature in the search results list, the feature is zoomed to, but the map is moved the minimum amount necessary to view the feature. If the feature is off the screen, then the map pans until the feature is on the edge of the screen.
I think the default action should be to move the feature to the center of the screen.
The screenshot shows that the feature is in the map corner and hidden by the search results panel.
