This plugin will be slowly phased into Nautobot core, for more information see the correponding issue in the nautobot project: nautobot/nautobot#766

What is the status of this app? Is it still planned to move everything to the Nautobot core?

The plan is still there, but there is currently little traction behind it. For the moment you should be able to use it just fine.
