On May 5 (AM), both CTDs on B2 stopped reporting. Suspect the Inductive Couple Cable (ICC) or fuse to the SBE Inductive Modem within the canister. Code that cycles power to the modem has been activated and does not remedy the CTD blackout. CTDs are set to record internally so no data is being lost.
Things to test on next visit.
test for continuity on ICC plug to canister (pins 2 and 3) -- will indicate health of the ICC cable below
connect to CR1000 (locally) via RF modem or Diagnostic cable and use talk-thru to determine health of the SBE Inductive Modem
Depending on above, findings (a) replace fuse, (b) replace SBE inductive modem, (c) place another ICC cable on the buoy which would require divers and very calm day
order spare ICC cable (6 week lead time)and/or determine if we can fix broken one in lab (won't be able to test without other Inductive CTD)

While diving on Aug 3, 2017 to install Vemco receiver with Jacob Krause (NCSU/CMAST), we got to see why the inductive comms are not working. The cable to the ICC bracket/clamp was parted from the bracket and hanging loose in the water. It was not necessary to test any further and we did not have time to do topside test. We will have to replace the whole ICC cable. This is not safe to do as a diving operation. We will need to replace it during recovery cruise. So we still need to order a new ICC in case we get this chance.
