At this point, I consider vail to be a "mature" project. That means I'm unlikely to implement any changes that aren't bug fixes, including the four open "enhancement" issues here on GitHub. I have a merge request that I'm still hopeful I can integrate somehow, but it could be a while.
If anybody would like to fork this code and host a version with changes, I fully support that! I would love to be able to link people to Vail servers at other URLs: maybe there will be one that does decoding of incoming messages, one that has sophisticated noise generation, and one that's the exact same except it's purple. I would view that as a big success.
Similarly, with the adapter, there is currently someone entertaining the idea of selling pre-built adapters. That's wonderful! Anybody who wants to try selling builds of my code is encouraged to do so: I made the license as open as possible to support this.
It costs me about $1.50 a year to host, and I'm glad to pay $1.50 to feel happy that people are having fun with my toy. I have no intention of taking it offline, but I also have no intention of making big changes. What you see today is likely what you'll see in 2030 and beyond.
