Motivation

With the H100s coming and the K80s aging older and older it is time to think about retiring them. Not to mention we would like that physical space back.

Completion Criteria

K80s decommissioned and rack space was made available for other uses.

Description

  • Gather usage data to make an informed decision
  • @Milstein provides data on course using K80s and what their use case is
  • decide on decommission date
  • create an issue for decommissioning K80s

Usage data

average since Sep '23 = 3.05% with a max of 6.47% out of 64 GPUs that is 2 - 5 K80s.

@syockel is there value in decommissioning all but 5, or do you need the whole rack?
@Milstein what is this course using them for? Could they use V100s instead?
