Just wanted to check to see if anyone has had success using nixos-anywhere to overwrite a newly-provisioned virtual machine on Linode (Akamai). I've tried a few times and while the installer seems to indicate success, the machine doesn't seem to boot and I cannot reach it over ssh. I've tried adapting the grub configuration from Linode's own blog post about installing NixOS on a linode without success. I'm wondering if I should just install manually via the method at that blog post or if there is a way to make nixes-anywhere work on a linode. Happy to share my nix-config for the target machine if helpful.

Not a linode user myself, but it might be worth trying nixpkgs linode-config module in https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/blob/master/nixos/modules/virtualisation/linode-config.nix. There's also linode-image there.

Or else, asking their support about it as the blog post you've linked to has a 2017 timestamp on it.

As this seems to be more about linodes boot process and we don't really have an indication that it's specific to nixos-anywhere I am closing this for now. Feel free to re-open or let me know if you can boot from an uploaded image but nixos-anywhere still fails!
