How about adding an importer for Apple Messages. The following is a great project, that already does the export to HTML and TXT:

Might be possible to adopt. A discusson on Markdown support is here:

Why? I think messages are a great source of personal information that otherwise is locked in in the app. This way the treasure can be lifted even cross plattform.
