Here's a link to my github page, where my vision statement has been added to the README file: https://github.com/snietopski/OLS-5-project |
This looks great—well done, @snietopski. Please complete the rest of the assignments and link them here. |
Please make the repo public, or add me as a collaborator. |
have added you as collaborator and can adjust later if other people will also need access |
Hi @snietopski your project sounds really interesting and kind of similar to mine :) I'd love to read your vision statement and canvas if possible. Thank you. |
Hi @sarenaz, yes I can definitely see the similarities! my vision statement is here: https://github.com/snietopski/OLS-5-project and I would love to hear your thoughts as it feels a bit vague at the moment. Working on finishin up my canvas and will post here shortly |
Here is a link to my current canvas: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1H1VoFe4mWt9gIonf5wbTsrzLbqkpdvsZ/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=103307838688572577781&rtpof=true&sd=true Very open to comments and feedback on any aspect. Specifically I'd love to hear any thoughts as to whether it is clear enough, or how it could be made more concrete. Also interested to hear about the Value proposition - is this actually 'unique'? Any thoughts as to what could further set it apart? Thank you! |
Hi @snietopski, great to chat to you in the OLS call earlier today! Regarding your open canvas - what is the ultimate goal of the learning opportunities your project will provide? Why are they important and relevant to researchers and science in general? Your vision statement touches on this but it might be useful to work it into the 'problem' section of your canvas too! e.g. what is the importance of AI ethics and collaboration? As part of my project I'm also hoping to encourage collaboration between users, so I'm looking forward to hearing more about your project and how it goes 😃 |
Thanks @evelyngreeves that's really helpful - this project is raising some existential questions that are really important to clarify. Will have a go at working that into the Canvas. Would be great to swap/share some ideas as we go along :) |
Thank you for sharing your vision statement and open canvas! They are pretty clear and concise. As a person migrating from a conventional social science to computational/digital social science, I'd love to have such a space as you envision to create - an open, accessible and quality communication channel between (new) learners (like myself) and experts in the fields of Data Science and AI. So, I'll keenly follow the progress of your project :) |
Project roadmap (work in progress) is here: https://github.com/users/snietopski/projects/1/views/1 |

Welcome to OLS-5! This issue will be used to track your project and progress during the program. Please use this checklist over the next few weeks as you start Open Life Science program 🎉.
Week 1 (week starting 28 February 2022): Meet your mentor!
If you're a group, each teammate should complete this assessment individually. This is here to help you set your own personal goals during the program. No need to share your results, but be ready to share your thoughts with your mentor.
Before Week 2 (week starting 7 March 2022): Cohort Call (Welcome to Open Life Science!)
Attend call or catch up via YouTube
Create an issue on the OLS-5 GitHub repository for your OLS work and share the link to your mentor.
Draft a brief vision statement using your goals
This lesson from the Open Leadership Training Series (OLTS) might be helpful
Leave a comment on this issue with your draft vision statement & be ready to share this on the call
Check the Syllabus for notes and connection info for all the cohort calls.
Before Week 3 (week starting 14 March 2022): Meet your mentor!
