# Installation details for Solaris/OpenSolaris installation
Unfortunately the version of PERL that is distributed together
with OpenSolaris is too old to work with OpenCA. In order to
fix the problem, you should:
1. Download the pkg-get package from http://www.sunfreeware.com. At the
time when this README is written you can directly access it from
here:
http://www.sunfreeware.com/pkg-get.html
2. Install the package - eg., BOLTpget.pkg by using the pkgadd tool as
usual:
pkgadd -d BOLTpget.pkg
3. Upgrade perl by using pkg-get, easy:
pkg-get -u perl
4. Now move the 'old' perl binary and link the new version in /usr/bin:
$ cd /usr/bin
$ mv perl perl.5.8.4
$ ln -s /usr/local/bin/perl perl
5. In order to be able to use the DB, we need the Perl DBD drivers for
the database you are going to use. To do so, the easiest way is to
download the CPAN module, from:
http://www.cpan.org
download the CPAN module (latest version now is 1.92_66). Once you
have it installed you can install the DBD driver by simply:
$ cpan
cpan> install Bundle::DBD::mysql
NOTE: You can install and use other DBMS, here MySQL is used as an
example. We support also Pg (PostgresSQL), Oracle, DB2, etc..
NOTE: Make sure you have the db libs installed - eg., you can use
pkg-get -i mysql
If you are *VERY* lucky, this will work.. but it did not work for
me - therefore to install mysql properly you should:
a) Install a working version of MySQL. First download the .pkg
for Solaris10 (32bit) from http://www.mysql.com.
Now install the package by doing:
$ pkgadd -d mysql-5.0.67-solaris10-i386.pkg
Ok.. half way..
b) download the DBD-mysql-4.008.tar.gz module from CPAN and unpack
it:
$ tar xvfpz DBD-mysql-4.008.tar.gz
Unfortunately the normal "perl Makefile.PL" will not work because
it does not get the right options. This worked for my installation:
$ perl Makefile.PL --libs="-R/opt/mysql/mysql/lib \
-L/opt/mysql/mysql/lib -lmysqlclient -lz -lcrypt \
-lgen -lsocket -lnsl -lm" --cflags="-I/opt/mysql/mysql/include"
Now.. breathe deeply.. and compile the module:
$ make && make install
Hopefully you linked the right libs, to check it, you might use
the ldd command:
$ ldd blib/arch/auto/DBD/mysql/mysql.so
6. Install the openca-tools and then the openca-base packages.
