Isn't that too domain specific for the schema language to care about?

In practice, yes, but external_ids was chosen to be inclusive rather than specific. The idea is to be able to reference one or many third-party IDs in a given OmH schema in order to call out semantic equivalence to an ID from some widely adopted terminology (SNOMED, LOINC).

To the larger point, I agree. I like the concept of stylesheets to handle the domain specifics. It is interesting to think about something like CSS for Concordia.
