Show curtailment #41
Comments
thanks @bje-, i was just talking with @dylanjmcconnell about this earlier today. i'm thinking that we should add two traces:
in future, we may want to differentiate economic curtailment from technical curtailment. |
thanks. i'm really keen to peruse the aggregations of curtailment (energy, rather than power) and see the trends over time… especially as battery capacity massively increases over the coming 18 months. |
Hey so regional estimates of curtailment can be derived from the
These relate the semi scheduled generators with wind or solar as primary energy source. The difference between the uncontrained values (UIGF) and target values (CLEAREDMW) gives an estimate of the curtailment (at the regional level). btw this dataseries only goes back to around late 2020 (mid September or so) - and is available in the live (current) data. |
If useful, I'd be interested in supporting on this 🙏 |
@jamescrowley thank you. shoot me an email on nik at opennem.org.au so we can have a chat |
I think the time has come for curtailment to be shown on the OpenElectricity plots. Curtailment is becoming very significant and showing it would be useful for easy awareness. In NEMO, I use the same generator colours but with increased transparency to show curtailment above the demand line.
