Flow-IPC became public in late March/early April 2024, and I - for one - was quite pleased with the initial reception in the open-source community (e.g., at Hacker News and a few corners of Reddit). Between then and September 2024, the project has seen some activity:
That said, in terms of actual development (merged PRs, releases), it has been quiet...
...Well, no longer! We expect significant work for the rest of the year at least. The major item on the menu will be integration between Cap'n Proto's RPC layer (conceptual info, C++ aspects) and Flow-IPC's zero-copy (SHM-based) functionality. (capnp's creator, Kenton Varda, personally suggested this - with good reason IMO.) A few other small-to-medium improvements are also likely. Issues shall be filed and prioritized shortly as needed.
P.S. On a personal note... there was a good reason I, personally, have been quiet: I was on parental leave for a few months in the summer, owing to the birth of my daughter - who was born this June. Yay!
