POAP(NFTs) integration with asset hub

POAP, short for "Proof of Attendance Protocol," allows you to mint memories as digital mementos which can be awarded as NFT for attending the Polkadot heroes calls or participating in any particular events.

Although, I doubt currently POAPs are supported on Polkadot Asset Hub. Could be a good NFT project someone looking to work at the Asset Hub.

Really good idea! We've actually been thinking of NFTs for the program for a while and would definitely love to see some form of POAPs being in the program.

This goes nicely hand in hand with the rankings and all the other activities that members are and will be performing. The program will also soon have new branding so the creation of POAPs and other NFTs could be very timely now.

The Parity DevRel team has actually experimented with NFTs during the recent Sub0 in Lisbon. One of our former colleagues built an NFT portal and we were minting NFTs for our booth attendees:

Would you or someone in the program be interested in building this out? We could nicely integrate it into the workings of the program.

As I side note, I think its really important that the program sees increasing contributions (and ultimately management) from its members, be that in the form of picking up such projects, formations of working groups, workshops, etc. POAPs would be a fantastic example imo!

Hey @bolajahmad @NicolasBiondini at this stage I guess we'd need a concept and build what's included, starting with an MVP and later we can figure out how to improve. Afaik there is noone who started this, I am happy to collaborate if you are interested in doing this from scratch!

Hi @muddlebee, you pose a really interesting idea. I have a proposal for how this could work and I’m building a notion document to explain my proposal.

If you, or @uosvald, could review it and let me know if there’s anything I could improve. Then NFT portal @uosvald shared is built on Assets hub, but is it a better idea to build some smart contracts to mint the POAPs?

I like this approach, although I am not the right person to judge the technical part, but I'm sure there are Heroes members here who are much smarter than me :) So this is an invite for them to contribute!

Fyi, we are working on rebranding the program, which will come with a new logo, which could serve for the NFT. This will be finalized in mid January (after the holidays).
